Registration and Admission
Effective for the 2013-2014 school year, there will be a discount for 2nd, 3rd and 4th students in one family. Call the office (847-382-9517) for more information about this special tuition reduction.
Registration is accomplished by mail. Parents must complete the registration form, one per student, and submit the form and tuition fees to the SMSB office. In signing the agreement, the parent agrees to attend the "New Parent Class", attend all group and private lessons with his/her child, and agrees to supervise the child's daily practice and listening.
Financial commitments include providing a properly sized, well-adjusted instrument for the child to play, purchasing the appropriate music books, Suzuki CDs, and paying tuition on time.
Lessons do not begin until the registration form and tuition are received in the office. Every effort will be made to admit a student. Pre-school violin lessons are scheduled through the office, all other lessons are scheduled through the teacher.
New student maximum admission age for all instruments is 17 years of age. Siblings of current students will be given priority admission, followed by transferring Suzuki students. All other students are placed on a waiting list on a first come-first served basis.
The preferable admission time of the year is in the fall, but students are accepted throughout the year. All new families in the program are required to attend the scheduled "New Parent Classes".
One full session tuition payment is required at registration, in addition to the New Parent/Registration fee.
New Student Parent Class
In an effort to make the "Suzuki" experience as rewarding as possible for parent, teacher and student, SMSB provides parents with "New Parent" classes. Two are scheduled in September. Parents entering the program are also asked to observe private and group classes. Continuing parents are always welcome to attend these classes as a refresher.
