School Profile
Suzuki Music School
of Barrington (SMSB)
The Suzuki
Music School of Barrington (SMSB) is owned and directed by Ms. Betty Mueller. The goal of the school is to deliver quality
musical ability development to all students who enroll. SMSB uses the Suzuki Triangle of parent-teacher-student to develop
the musical abilities of its students. The school provides the best teachers,
facilities, program and performance opportunities possible. Private
lessons are offered in violin, cello, flute, classical guitar and piano.
The student's musical education is enhanced and supported by regular repertoire,
music reading, rhythm and theory classes.
Barrington Suzuki Strings (BSS)
The school's parent partner
group is the Barrington Suzuki Strings, a non-profit parent corporation whose
purpose is to promote music education in the greater Barrington area. BSS
supports the families of the SMSB through various means. Activities of the
BSS include, but are not limited to, sponsoring concerts, workshops and
community demonstrations. BSS provides monetary support for SMSB teacher
and student education. They also provide support for concert tour groups
at home and abroad. These activities are all accomplished through the hard
work of parent volunteer committees and board members. BSS is run by a
board of parent volunteers and is funded by corporate and community businesses,
and the annual "Children's Fund" parent donations.
