BARRINGTON YOUTH ORCHESTRA
The BARRINGTON YOUTH ORCHESTRA (BYO), directed by Ron Velleuer, is open to participation by all string students (grades 6-12) in public and private schools in Barrington and surrounding communities. Included also are Suzuki and home school students. The BYO: will provide middle and high school students the opportunity to perform high-level string ensemble literature in a fun, exciting, nurturing atmosphere where excellence is the standard. Students are admitted by audition.
Auditions will be held for violin, viola, cello and bass players by appointment with the conductor, Mr. Velleuer. Auditions usually are held at the Barrington Middle School Stations campus (215 Eastern). Please notify the Suzuki Music School by e-mail (betty.mueller@sbcglobal.net) or by phone (847-382-9517) to indicate your intention to audition or to obtain more information. Please include in your message the student's name, instrument and phone number.
Be prepared to play a piece of your choice that represents your ability, scales and sight-reading.
Scales for violin will be 2 octaves--C & D Major.
Scales for viola and cello will be 2 octaves-G & D Major.
Scales for bass will be 2 octaves-E major.
Weekly MONDAY rehearsals beginning September 9, 2013 will be held at Barrington Middle School Station Campus from 7:00 to 8:15 PM.
The registration fee is $120.00 per semester. Added information about the BYO, including performance schedules, will be available at the Audition.

Village of Barrington sponsors several free concerts in the park throughout the summer.
Barrington High School, Fine Arts Department presents concerts throughout the school year the are open to the public.
Long Grove Arts and Music Council sponsors free concerts at 3pm Sundays at Buffalo Creek Park on Old McHenry Road in downtown Long Grove.
Harper College presents a variety of classical music at their performing arts center. For most events, children under the age of 12 are admitted free.
